This Couple Brought Kentucky to their Backyard COVID Wedding

When traveling was no longer an option, this couple brought Kentucky to their backyard COVID wedding that was a black-tie affair despite its intimate crowd! Meredyth and Daniel’s original nuptial plans included a destination wedding on a horse farm in Kentucky, where the bride is from. Since they are both big fans of Kentucky bourbon, horse racing, open fields, and formal affairs, it made perfect sense. When that plan was no longer in the cards, they refocused to Texas and thought since they have pilots in the family, Daniel’s father’s hangar property was the best idea. After much deliberation, the couple made the hard decision to cancel their bigger wedding for the protection and safety of their guests. In just 6 weeks, they replanned once more to bring in 10 wedding guests from far and wide for the scaled-down ceremony As a nod to both sets of their original plans, Meredyth and Daniel really wanted to bring sweet reception tablescape elements of the south along with elements of piloting. Bride Meredyth is also a makeup artist for Butter Artistry, but one of her best friends also on the team was the one to get her glammed up for the big day – styled with a romantic, low updo and flawless bridal makeup. Her look pairs perfectly with a L’amour by Calla Blanche gown featuring a jeweled illusion high-neck and a sheath silhouette from Brickhouse Bridal along with a dreamy veil. Metallics combine with yellow, navy, and mauve tones in a beautiful blend of free-spirited florals that keep a touch of southern elegance, all the way down to the green tomatoes throughout. We love that despite their inability to travel, this couple brought the Kentucky destination wedding to them! They had their first dance as Mr. and Mrs. before cutting into their cake and dancing some more. It’s a tradition in Kentucky for you to bury a bottle of bourbon at your wedding venue one month before the big day and then dig it up to toast with your guests right before hopping into the getaway car. So, that’s exactly what they did – their Old Forester 1920 was dug up from the back flowerbed, the pair had one last toast with their guests, then they were sent off with sparklers and lots of hoorays!
