We all know Father of the Bride gave us an iconic childhood home wedding scene, but Shelby and Spencer’s modern boho wedding is here to top it. After having to move their wedding from Big Sur, California, to Houston due to the pandemic, Hopeful Events & Design turned Shelby’s childhood home into a wedding of their dreams. Shelby and Spencer met in their sophomore year marketing class at Ole Miss. The two remained friends until their senior year when Spencer asked Shelby out on a date. Friends turned into soulmates, and Spencer proposed to Shelby at their favorite restaurant in Oxford, Mississippi. Although saying “I do” at Shelby’s childhood home wasn’t the couple’s original choice, it turned out to be more memorable than they could ever imagine. The most beautiful day was shared between Shelby, Spencer, and their closest family and friends with a terra cotta color palette and a strong sense of nostalgia. Shelby got ready in her childhood room and walked down the “aisle” in the backyard she’d known since she was two with her father. After saying “I do” followed by lots of dancing and good food, everyone jumped in the pool (in their nice clothes) to end the night. Cheers to that! From the bride on her most helpful wedding vendor: “Rebekah from Hopeful Events & Design literally made my wedding dreams come true. I was specific about what I didn’t want but not very specific about what I wanted, and Rebekah did an amazing job interpreting my vision into my dream wedding. I also was not stressed about anything the day of and I think that says a lot about a wedding planner!”
