Colorful Summer Hues Inspired our Midsummer Maven Fashion Editorial

We’re giddy to unveil this season’s bridal fashion editorial, Midsummer Maven: a collection of romantic and whimsical statement gowns for the lush garden bride captured in vibrant, colorful photos by Kati Hewitt Photography and on video by Reverent Wedding Films in behind-the-scenes clips. Held around the property at Forever 5 Events, scenic gardenesque weddingscapes flowered with bright blooms by Unforgettable Floral unfold to showcase bridal styles from some of the industry’s top designers. Our model bride was breathtaking in each of the five statement bridal gowns from these Houston bridal boutiques (see credits for each below), and her wedding day looks were accented with romantic hair and makeup by BP Artistry along with fun and whimsical bridal accessories. Kaira finished off each bridal look with her fine jewelry collection of brightly colored gems.

See all the highlights from our Midsummer Maven bridal fashion editorial down below. Plus, keep reading for a note from the florist as well as the hair and makeup artist on the creative process they took to bring this whimsical bridal fashion editorial to life. Cheers!

Belle Âme Bridal – Nicole Milano Style “AU12112”

This luminous wedding dress features a clean-lined, essential, mikado bodice and flowing, embroidered lace and tulle skirt. What a dream! Our bride models this timeless gown around lush wedding scenes to show off every gorgeous angle of this gown made for the modern-day Cinderella.

Brickhouse Bridal – Martina Liana Style “1266”

An edgy twist to minimalist design, this dress really brings the drama with a strapless neckline and center plunge–contrasted with a sheer back panel and curved boning for a flattering shape. The signature seaming contours the silhouette as the full flare to the skirt creates a fun moment of grandeur. Last but not least, the detachable high-volume puffed sleeves and optional train add unexpected, modern textures to this sleek bridal fashion design for a lasting impression that will still stand the test of time.

EVOKE: the bridal experience – Sincerity Bridal by Justin Alexander Style “44149”

Walk through the summer meadows in this effortless A-line gown. The dress features a deep V-neck illusion bodice with Venice lace appliqués paired with scattered beading on straps. The A-line tulle skirt has a chapel-length train adorned with sequined lace appliqués along the back of the train to complete the look. For brides wanting extra shimmer, this style can also be ordered with a sparkle tulle underlay instead of the nude-toned lining shown here.

Modern Affinity – Pronovias “Desdemona” Gown

Making a scene has a good meaning when you’re wearing this gown. Found at Modern Affinity, this “Desdemona” gown by Pronovias hugs your silhouette in all the right places. This light peach mermaid dress is complete with full-body lace and a semi-sheer corset along with a breathtaking built-in train. Keep both arms free all night long in this captivating bridal gown.

Wanderlust Bridal Boutique – Tanya Grig “Rosie” Gown

Incredible floral lace makes the stunning “Rosie” gown so feminine and chic. Turn heads in an instant wearing this long-sleeve gown that is exquisitely elegant while its natural petal textures make it look right at home in both indoor and outdoor settings. Meanwhile, delicate sheer sleeves allow you to rock this gown year round no matter where you tie the knot.

From Bobbi with Unforgettable Floral: “For our large, flower-filled arch installation, we wanted most of it to be made up of bright, fun blooms! We even brought in some beautiful presserved peegee hydrangea that look just like cotton candy! I loved all the pastel, spring inspired colors together, and the whimsical feel it gives. Our goal was for it to feel light and airy, almost as if you had stumbled upon it growing naturally. Taking inspiration from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ we added in some bright pops of color such as coral, peach and golden yellow to add some extra interest and really draw you in. Currently, we are really loving lots of color in our arrangements and all the depth it provides!

The second installation was free standing, which is popular for our more free-spirited couples. The different heights and the meadow at the base of the installation gives your eye plenty of room to wander… with beauty to be found everywhere you look! This altar style almost looks as though the flowers grew up and out of the ground… And we’re loving it. What more could a bride dream of? Not to mention, the lake as the backdrop looked gorgeous, especially during golden hour!

While greenery is a popular wedding trend, for this shoot we wanted to do something different and a bit more sophisticated. Instead, we focused on premiere blooms in a variety of colors that command your full attention, unsubdued by lots of greenery. This allows your eye to focus more on all the colorful blooms within the arrangement! Dyed flowers are becoming more and more of a trend in the flower world, and we’re here for it! We love mixing natural and dyed colors together.  For example, our dyed baby pink peegee hydrangea and the silvery-blue dyed tulips pop against our natural blooms. It just adds a little something unexpected!

Some of my personal favorite flowers used were the Lavender Double Tulips, the Caramel Antike Garden Rose (it’s the perfect pale yellow rose!), Light Pink and Yellow Butterfly Ranunculus (they’re perfect for that floaty-effect), Coral Charm Peonies, Preserved Peegee Hydrangeas, Lavender Sweet Pea, Blue Dyed Tulips, Salmon Ranunculus, Blue Tweedia, Purple Clematis, and Lavender Dahlias, just to name a few!”

From Brandy with BP Artistry: “For this look we kept it very natural with a gorgeous glow finish. We used Charlotte Tilbury rose bud eyeshadows with a slight shimmer on the lid, topped with a pillow talk lipstick in medium. For her hairstyle to give it the texture we used Puff.Me for texture and volume, finished off with Kenra 25 hairspray!  We kept it very effortless to give it the romantic look.”
