How would you categorize your style? My style is described as modern and romantic, and the majority of my designs are heavily dependent on calligraphy and line drawing illustration, using textural pieces and embellishments to accentuate the overall aesthetic.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs? I draw inspiration from my couples and their love story, the venue and the visual aesthetic of their event. Tying personal, meaningful elements into a design to help convey a couple’s story is the most rewarding. I also draw inspiration from nature, architecture, interior design and a variety of ordinary things observed in everyday life that I find visually interesting. I love the challenge of combining colors, spatial layout, typography, illustration, textures and embellishments to add interest and evoke feelings to perfectly depict the essence of a couple’s love story and their event.
What is one piece of advice you think every bride should know? Your marriage is more important than your wedding. Keep your relationship at the forefront throughout the planning process. It’s easy to get caught up in the details to the point of feeling overwhelmed with unnecessary stress. This is such a special time in your lives – enjoy it!
When it comes to wedding stationery, my best piece of advice is to remember that your invitations and other paper goods will touch the hands of all of your guests, serving as your communication to them throughout your event. The truth is, your time will be so limited on your wedding day that you won’t get much face time with every loved one, unfortunately. The personal touches and thoughtful paper pieces are crucial touchpoint opportunities to speak to them in another way, sharing your personality and character through design. These are the ways you can really have a heartfelt impact, giving your guests the first impression of your event through your invitations, providing elements of surprise and delight throughout the celebration, and showing your gratitude for their love and support.
Cassie makes a great point about the communication factor of custom stationery and signage throughout your wedding. It’s a way to reach every guest – even the ones you may not be able to greet in person. To inquire with Dreams and Nostalgia, visit Cassie’s Brides of Houston vendor profile.
