Family Pitched in to Build the Venue for this Intimate Corona Wedding

Procuring a venue for this intimate Corona wedding took a little more effort than just touring and booking! Spoiler alert: Tiffany and Zach’s adorable chapel ceremony is held in a venue everyone in the family helped build! The newlyweds’ story first began when they attended the same high school growing up. However, it wasn’t until June of 2018 that they formally met! One double date and lots of texting later, Tiffany knew Zach was the one for her. In June of 2019, the two were engaged and began planning their dream wedding for April 2020. Just a week into April, though, Tiffany and Zach had to make the heartbreaking decision to postpone their plans for a larger wedding until it would be safer. However, they just couldn’t imagine not being wed on their original date! They decided to tie the knot at a family-built chapel on the groom’s sister’s property in Dickinson, Texas.

From the bride: “There are several things you worry about when planning an outdoor wedding in Texas. Will it be too hot? Will it rain? What dresses and suits are the most comfortable for the weather? A global pandemic never even occurred to us. Four weeks before our April 10th wedding, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to postpone all of our plans and wait for a safer time to get everyone together. This meant contacting every vendor to make changes and praying they were all available on the same day, throwing away everything we had made or purchased with a date on it, and contacting each person off of our three-hundred-and-fifty-person guest list. We contemplated waiting until our rescheduled date in July, but as our original wedding date grew closer, I just couldn’t imagine not marrying my best friend on the day we had planned for so long. We were brainstorming location ideas when my sister’s in-laws offered their property. A few years ago, they began building a quaint little chapel on their property in Dickinson, Texas. They would randomly work on it from time to time, but when we needed a place to get married during a nationwide shutdown, the whole family pitched in to finish. They spent days out there cleaning, landscaping, finishing last-minute details, mowing to create a parking lot area, and even laying a walkway so I could wear heels. April 10th rolled around. I woke up in my bed at my parents’ house. My sister painted my nails, and I talked to my bridesmaids on FaceTime. My talented friend, Kelsey Croft, fixed my hair and makeup, and my sister-in-law brought mimosas for us to drink and celebrate while I got ready. We were trying to be super excited and happy, but the day just didn’t feel as special as we had wanted it to be. With only our immediate family present, and several others watching from Facebook Live, my brother-in-law married us in Waymaker Chapel. My photographer who is also my cousin, Weddings by Westy, drove in from College Station to capture all the details. We made our exit walk down the aisle, and our sisters flung the doors open for a dramatic picture effect. We never guessed that our wedding party had been tailgating in the parking lot and were there to celebrate us with signs and cheers! This moment was more special than we could have ever dreamed, and definitely the silver lining in the nightmare that is being a ‘COVID Bride.'”
