These High School Sweethearts Had a Beautifully Intimate Covid Wedding

These high school sweethearts had a beautifully intimate covid wedding, so much so, that we can practically feel their love through our screens! Emma and Matthew have a pretty crazy love story with the greatest happily-ever-after ending that will bring tears to your eyes, and we couldn’t be more excited to share their oh-so sweet and intimate day. With previous plans to hold their ceremony on the front lawns of the historic French chapel at the Houston Oaks, covid allowed them to instead hold their ceremony inside – a shining plus side to having occupancy restrictions – and it feels like we’ve been transported to France by just looking at their stunning photos. After so many changes and the stress of COVID-19, Emma and Matthew had their intimate wedding with only 20 of their closest friends and family present to witness them FINALLY tie the knot in a ceremony full of love, laughter and worship. Stunning peach, lavender and blush florals accented by pampas grass and lush greenery fill the space with bright, whimsical vibes and accent beautiful red bridesmaids dresses, making for a beauty of a summer color palette. Emma is simple the most gorgeous bride, as her perfect makeup artistry from Hey Lovely leaves her with the most natural radiant glow, and her infectious smile has us grinning from ear-to-ear. From the bride: “Matthew and I have had a crazy story from the beginning. We started dating in high school, and ten days after we found out Matthew had cancer. When we started planning our wedding, we were so excited to celebrate with my family coming from England and more family coming from all over the country. When things started unraveling in the news, Matthew was finishing up his senior year at Texas A&M, and I was finishing up my school year at Baylor University. As things quickly worsened, our English family reached out saying they wouldn’t be able to make it because the borders were closing. Matthew and I remained hopeful. Four weeks before our original wedding date the capacity of any space, including our venue, was changed to twenty-five percent. We were so sad at the thought of having to go through our list and choose who would and wouldn’t come. We came to a quick conclusion that we would rather just get married and start our lives together, so we called the wedding venue and asked if they could move our wedding to two weeks earlier to May 17th, with only twenty people. My best friends and bridesmaids got into town and it began to feel more like a celebration than how it previously felt, as something Matthew and I had lost. It ended up being a beautiful weekend full of love, laughter and fun! Amidst all the tragedy and uncertainty, we got to proclaim God’s goodness and faithfulness, including how he healed Matthew from cancer and that he was alive that day for us to marry.”
