From the bride: “Our wedding day was literally a dream. It felt like I was living a fantasy, watching all the visions I had in my mind for months finally coming to life! My bridesmaids, mom and I spent the day getting pampered in the bridal suite by our wonderful vendors. It was such a special time to spend with the women who have each played a vital role in my life, sharing memories and wisdom while getting ready for the most important day of my life thus far. The boys spent the morning golfing (of course), and then I surprised Jon with his first ever pair of Lucchese boots waiting for him in groom’s suite. Jon and I had a first look about an hour before the wedding, where we got to exchange letters (we wrote countless letters to each other while dating) and have a quiet moment alone before the ceremony. I will forever cherish getting to see Jon just moments before he became my husband, getting to refocus on what the day was all about – becoming his bride.
Then, we went back upstairs to refresh. My stomach was doing flips as I heard the guests start to chatter in the lobby! After being prayed over by my bridal party and sharing a last sweet moment with my mom, it was time for the procession. I waited for what felt like an eternity for my wonderful coordinator, Lindsay, to tell me it was my turn to enter through the doors. My eyes welled with tears and I gripped my dad’s arm for dear life as I locked eyes with Jon at the end of the aisle. I remember scanning the crowd and seeing so many faces of people who had traveled, despite the headaches and stressed of Hurricane Harvey, to celebrate with us. I don’t know that I have ever felt more loved by so many! The ceremony was better than I would have ever imagined. After exchanging our custom vows, our first act of marriage was serving communion, first to each other, and then to our bridesmaids and groomsmen. Then, I finally got to kiss my HUSBAND before dancing down the aisle to ‘Good Day for Marrying You’ by Dave Barnes!
After the ceremony, our amazing photographer, Ellen Ashton, took group and couple photos for us at sunset, followed by a private cocktail hour for Jon and myself to soak up our first few moments as husband and wife. The reception was the greatest party of my life, filled with all of my favorite people, Napa Flats (our favorite restaurant), and LOTS of dancing! One of the most special moments of the reception was when my sisters and I surprised my mom by singing her favorite song, ‘Forever Young,’ since she graciously let us get married on her birthday! We ended the night with a private last dance before being sent off in Jon’s truck with sparklers and hugs from our friends and family. I truly could not have dreamed of a more perfect day to mark the start of our forever!”
