Shelby and Ross met at Texas A&M University. After Ross got drafted in 2012, he left to begin his baseball career as she completed her junior year of college. They rekindled their friendship after he returned from his first season of professional baseball. The following year, they became official.
In March 2016, Shelby traveled to Arizona to visit Ross during Spring Training. On one evening, he planned a fancy dinner at Sassi Italian Restaurant in Scottsdale. He romantically popped the question on the beautiful garden lawn of the restaurant as the sun set across the scenic desert view. When they returned to their table on the patio, two celebratory glasses of champagne were waiting for them.
