From the planner: “Brittany and Rolf wanted a wedding experience that was unique to who they are as a couple. Rolf’s number one focus was that Brit have a stress-free engagement season. While planning the wedding didn’t necessarily excite them to begin with, they were looking forward to a fun celebration with good food and plenty of champagne to go around. The design goal was marry the expectation from their families of black tie formality with Brittany’s organic, relaxed style.”

“There were two invitations – one in English and one in Portuguese. They had three favors including Bem Casados (a traditional Brazilian wedding favor that literally means “well married”), Vermont syrup from Brittany’s home state and Kentucky bourbon representing their first home together. For me, every wedding is different because we’re getting to know the couple and creating a day that isn’t a replicate of everything on Pinterest, but instead takes into account their heritage, their love story and their unique priorities.”

“The Clubs at Houston Oaks’ chapel is a 15th-century French chapel plopped down in a gorgeously landscaped Texas oasis. With so much natural beauty, we didn’t want to overwhelm the ceremony site. Brittany and Rolf chose to accentuate the chapel with two altar arrangements that fit into the chapel’s existing urns. Lauren of Flora & Fauna added a little greenery to the gates to signify to guests that they were walking into something special. She also added a little garland around the resident lamb statue as an homage to Brittany and Rolf’s story – they first met at UPenn’s sheep lab!”

“With shades of green and white with just a few sprinklings of blush, we started calling Brittany’s style ‘organic glam’ because she loved neutrals and free shapes but she is not a country, rustic bride. We used neutral tones and simple table decor that utilized high-end textures and materials.”

“The number one most important element to Brittany was the dessert table. Rolf is Brazilian, and in Brazil the dessert table is the equivalent of the American photo booth. It’s the spot all the girls crowd around to grab their selfies for Instagram. Brittany wanted to bring this subtle nod to Rolf’s culture to the wedding, but infuse it with her own style. I worked alongside Lauren of Flora & Fauna to design a dessert table that would wow. From the hanging floral installment to the hundreds of brigadeiros (Brazilian truffles) and macarons, to the copper-topped table itself, we wanted it to be over-the-top without feeling fussy.”

From the bride: “Rolf said his vows in English for my family, and I said my my vows in Portuguese for the large group of family and guests who came in from Brazil. My husband was so relaxed about so many parts of the wedding, so when he said something was important to him, I really took it to heart to ensure it was both of our day.”
