Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Houston, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.
For February, we’re highlighting Jamar & Darnell’s incredible celebration in downtown Houston. From their custom boots to a menu full of Caribbean flavors, their vibrant reception at POST Houston beautifully honored their Texas pride and Jamaican roots in a celebration that was truly one-of-a-kind.
The Wedding Day
The celebration took place at the iconic POST Houston, a venue sitting right in the heart of downtown. Having said “I do” privately in a rose garden months prior, the couple used their Houston reception to throw an unforgettable party where the city skyline served as a dramatic, perfect backdrop for their portraits.
Planning a day with this much personality was no small task, but The Tiffany Effect Collective handled the “many moving parts” beautifully. Jamar noted that “it takes a team” to pull off such an intricate vision, and their planners ensured every detail felt intentional and seamless
The visual transformation of the industrial space was led by Luxe Event Design Firm, who curated the sophisticated decor and rentals, from modern seating to the elegant cocktail hour setup. Wanderie Floral Studio brought a romantic softness to the urban venue with lush, towering floral pillars and delicate bud vases in creamy tones. Adding to the sleek aesthetic, AALVO provided custom signage and those essential personal touches like the bar menus and napkins.
To set the mood, Elevated AV Production designed a lighting scheme that highlighted the architecture of POST Houston and kept the energy high on the dance floor. The night wrapped up with nearly 100 guests joining the couple to dance to everything from “two step to dancehall”—the ultimate tribute to their blended cultures.
Jamar & Darnell’s Favorite Moment
“My favorite memory is hearing the loud roar from our friends and loved ones when we came in! Another was walking The POST to take pictures and shoot content in our outfits and seeing everyone’s reaction… We had so many random people come up and show us love.”
