Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Houston, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.
Simple and elegant with warm neutrals and touches of olive are featured in this month’s Vows that Wow. Despite its December date, Alyssa and Ryan tied the knot surrounded by greenery. Read on to learn more about a wedding as welcoming as it is beautiful.
How the Couple Met
Alyssa and Ryan met while still in high school. The two were friends for years and attended the same small group. It wasn’t until senior year, however, that they started talking much more. After attending prom together, they took a leap of faith and began dating despite going separate ways for college. After four years of long distance — Ryan at Texas A&M and Alyssa at Mississippi State — the couple tied the knot on December 9, 2023.
The Wedding Day
Alyssa and Ryan’s wedding took place at the modern Boxwood Manor. “The bridal cottages and grooms cottages at Boxwood were so accommodating for our wedding party, and the weather was incredible for a December wedding in Texas,” writes Alyssa. Surrounded by tall ceilings, gold accents and lovely florals from Blooms by Mela, the two said “I do.”
“The ceremony was the most special and important part to us since we waited over five years for this moment! Everything with the ceremony was so seamless and perfect and a special moment I will cherish forever,” writes the bride.
After the ceremony, the couple and their loved ones danced the night away with entertainment from Royal Dukes Band, who played atop a stage decked out by Elevated AV Production.
“Because so many people traveled from near and far, we knew we wanted to make this day a party! … Royal Dukes Band brought the energy we were hoping for! They had everyone on the dance floor the entire time and we all had a BLAST,” Alyssa writes.
Hayden Jordan Photography and Cinematic Saviors captured the day with all skill and expertise, providing the happy couple with photos and a video to look back on for a lifetime. And thanks to Alyssa and Ryan’s wedding planner, Blue Poppy Events, the day went off without a hitch!
“Carrie and Rebekah made sure the day ran smoothly and that we had everything we needed. They made the whole planning process leading up to the wedding the easiest process ever! Post wedding, I even had family come up to me and tell me how great and helpful they were! We couldn’t have done this day without them,” writes the bride.
Alyssa & Ryan’s Favorite Detail
“My other favorite memory was the private dinner Ryan and I shared after the ceremony. It was our first meal together as husband and wife, and we got to be alone and spend uninterrupted time together before the craziness of the reception. It was the perfect time for us to discuss the day and all the sweet moments leading up to the ceremony.”
