2019’s Best in Houston Cake and Catering Trends
by Kaitlyn December 26
We love looking back at the end of each year and remembering which trends made an impact – especially when it comes to cake and catering! Houston’s catering chefs and wedding cake bakers stepped out of the box in 2019, bringing incredible, delectable creations to weddings around the city and giving us plenty of inspiration for our own celebrations! Scroll down to see some of the top trends we saw in 2019, from signature colors to detailed techniques and more. Bon appetit!
Pretty in Pink Florals
Blush was queen in 2019 when it came to the Houston wedding cake scene. We saw tons of beautiful shades of pink used in a plethora of ways, but especially when paired with delicate floral adornments. Feminine, sweet and inviting, pink and tiny blooms made quite the pairing!
Tiny portions reigned this year, with brides opting for unique desserts like brigadeiros and macarons in lieu of traditional cake stations. Catering followed suit, offering grazing stations to give guests multiple options and things to try. We’ll take one of each, please!
Delicate Watercolor Details
Artful and detailed, we saw delicate watercolor designs make their way onto Houston wedding cakes in 2019, taking them from simple to simply stunning. These added touches show how Houston’s cake makers aren’t just professionals when it comes to baking, but they’re truly artists, too!
