Amphitheater Engagement
Jacob and I had been talking about marriage since we started dating at the beginning of our sophomore year of college at Notre Dame. Young and in love, we knew it would have to wait until we graduated, but we had no intention of waiting any longer than that. After we moved out of our dorms at the end of our junior year, we drove down to his hometown of Westfield, Indiana. After taking me to our favorite sushi restaurant in town, he drove us to Coxhall Gardens, a beautiful park with spanning fields, a stunning amphitheater, and a gorgeous Georgian mansion. Jacob wanted to propose at the center of the amphitheater and have his friend, Johnny, catch it all on film, but it was May 22nd, and he completely forgot about prom and graduation season. There were hundreds of other people there for photos! Suffice to say, there was a LOT of stalling involved, but once all of the commotion finally died down, Jacob walked me through the park and down to the center of the amphitheater, where he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I flew home to Houston the next day on cloud nine, and now I’m counting down the days until June 24th!
