Napa Valley proposal

Eight years ago, I met Jacob for the first time at UTSA (the college that we both went to), and I had never been so nervous in my life. He was the most handsome man I had ever met. The way he lit up the room with his smile, the way he makes everyone around him feel, it’s no wonder he is loved by anyone who meets him. I never thought I would have a chance because I was a freshman when he was a junior, but little did I know he had been interested in me as well. We were introduced through our best friends eitght years ago and have been together ever since. This past April, we took a trip to Napa Valley, California. I have always wanted to go because what’s better than drinking wine and enjoying gorgeous views?! Jacob surprised me with the trip and I honestly didn’t think anything of it as far as an engagement goes because we had been to Switzerland and Hawaii the year before. Little did I know… the first winery we went to was on a Thursday morning and it was a smaller boutique winery called Bennett Lane Winery. Since it was early on a Thursday, it was just us there, and we got a really cool, private tour of the winery. We even had the chance to meet the wine chemist (who knew there was such a thing?) and taste wines that weren’t released yet. We were having such a fun time and ended the tour with a charcuterie board overlooking the scenic hills. Jacob opened the door for me and when I looked outside I saw a very romantic setup. There were rose petals, flowers, sparkling wine, glasses, the charcuterie board and the breathtaking view. As I was walking through the setup I turned around to Jacob to mention how beautiful everything was and when I turned around, he was down on one knee. I instantly started crying and I couldn’t stop smiling. I think I blacked out in the moment because I don’t exactly remember what he said, but I didn’t even care. I just couldn’t believe that at that moment, the man of my dreams and my best friend was proposing to me. It was just us two and nobody else around and such a sweet intimate moment that I will never forget. We are getting married this May and I cannot wait to be his wife!
