The Sunless Château’s Guide to the Perfect Bridal Glow
There’s already a lot happening during wedding week—your spray tan shouldn’t be one more thing to stress about. From finding the perfect shade to knowing exactly when to book, a little planning can make all the difference when it comes to achieving that natural, just-right bridal glow.
We asked The Sunless Château team to walk us through everything brides should know about wedding spray tans—from trials and timelines to prep, aftercare and getting the whole bridal party involved.
Consider this your bridal glow game plan. ✨

First Things First: When Should You Start?
When should a bride start thinking about her spray tan in the wedding planning process? Do you recommend a trial, and when should her final wedding tan be scheduled?
“We always say 8–12 weeks in advance! I know what you’re thinking—that sounds crazy far in advance! But think of your spray tan like any other wedding-week maintenance: hair, facials, nails, etc.
Starting early gives us time to master your color, see how your tan develops and wears on your skin, and make any adjustments along the way. And YES, please book our Bridal Trial appointment! You’ll receive extra time for a personalized consultation so we can really nail down your perfect color.
For the big day, we recommend scheduling your final tan at least 2 days before the wedding for the best results. ✨”
The bridal glow timeline:
8–12 weeks before: Start your spray tan journey + book your bridal trial
2–3 days before: Schedule your final wedding spray tan
What if you’ve never had a spray tan before?
“Shade and look always depend on the bride! For someone who’s never had a spray tan before, we typically recommend starting with a natural, glowy tan that enhances your skin tone and pulls naturally with your undertones.
We’ll talk you through the entire process, help you choose the right color, and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way. Don’t worry—we’ve got you! 🤍”

Your Bridal Tan Should Look Like You
There’s no one-size-fits-all shade when it comes to a wedding-day glow. Your skin tone, undertones and personal preference all come into play when creating the right color.
Do you take things like skin tone, undertones and the bride’s desired look into consideration when customizing a bridal tan?
“Absolutely! All of these things can play a part in creating your perfect bridal glow. Your skin tone and natural undertones are always our starting point, and from there we can customize your solution—or even blend multiple solutions—to create the exact color you’re looking for.
Every bride is different, and no two spray tans are the same. Whether you’re brand new to spray tanning or you’ve been doing it for years, your color is customized to you, your desired look, and your big day. 🤍”
What makes a bridal tan at The Sunless Château different from simply booking a traditional spray tan?
“First of all, there’s champagne! 🥂 And yes, we can tan your entire bridal party together.
What really sets a bridal tan at The Sunless Château apart is the customization. Our entire staff is color-theory trained, so we know how to choose the right solution for your skin tone and undertones—whether you’re looking for a subtle glow or need specific color cancellation for the perfect, natural-looking airbrush tan.
We also pay attention to the little details: barrier cream for your hands and nails, drying powder to set your tan and help prevent movement or creasing, and personalized aftercare guidance to make sure your glow looks beautiful on the big day.
At the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of besties who want you to feel like the absolute best version of yourself when you walk down the aisle. 🤍”

The Wedding-Week Prep Checklist
A great bridal spray tan starts before the appointment itself. The biggest rule? Take care of all the exfoliating, scrubbing and other beauty appointments before your tan.
How should brides prep for their wedding spray tan?
“Preparation is key! Take your everything shower 24 hours before your appointment and yes—exfoliate! We want that fresh canvas so your tan develops evenly and beautifully.
For your appointment, come in wearing loose, comfortable clothing—think loose pants and a loose long-sleeve top—to avoid rubbing or creasing your fresh tan. And if you forget something in the midst of all the wedding planning, don’t worry, queenie! We have a boutique with everything you need. 🤍
When it comes to aftercare, the biggest thing you can do for your tan is stay hydrated! Proper hydration helps extend the life of your tan and prevent patchy fading. For the best maintenance, we recommend our custom tan-safe aftercare products: Luxe Lather, Whipped Cream & After Glow.
A little prep + the right aftercare = a longer-lasting, beautiful bridal glow! ✨”
Where should your spray tan fall in your wedding-week beauty schedule?
“Make sure that we are your last stop in your beauty routine before your wedding! Schedule your waxing, facials, massages, and any other beauty appointments before your spray tan to give your skin time to settle. Avoid manicures, pedicures, and other services that involve soaking, scrubbing, or exfoliating after your tan.
We recommend scheduling your final spray tan 2–3 days before the wedding so your color has time to develop and settle beautifully.”
Before your spray tan: waxing, facials, massages, manicures, pedicures + exfoliating
After your spray tan: loose clothes, hydration + plenty of TLC

Should bridesmaids, moms and other members of the wedding party tan together?
“Absolutely! We love when bridesmaids, moms, and the entire wedding party tan together. It’s the perfect way to turn your bridal glow into a fun pre-wedding experience.
Booking as a group means everyone gets to enjoy their spray tan, catch up, and celebrate the bride together. Plus, your artist will custom color match each guest to their individual skin tone and desired glow, so everyone feels confident and beautiful.
And because we love a good bridal party perk, parties of 3 or more receive $10 off their tan! So bring ya girls, pop the champagne, and let’s get you glowing. 🤍”

Let’s Talk About the Two Biggest Spray Tan Fears
Orange? Too dark? Spray tan on a white wedding dress? If those thoughts have crossed your mind, you’re definitely not the only bride wondering.
What are some of the biggest misconceptions brides have about spray tanning for their wedding?
“One of the biggest concerns we hear from brides is, “I don’t want to look orange!” or “I don’t want to be too dark.” And we completely understand! Your wedding day is not the time to experiment with a color you’re unsure about.
The truth is, a professional spray tan should enhance your natural beauty, not change who you are. At The Sunless Chateau, every tan is custom color matched to your skin tone and desired glow. Whether you want a subtle sun-kissed look or a deeper bronze, we’ll help you find the perfect shade.
Another common question is, “Will my spray tan transfer to my wedding dress?” With proper development time, rinsing, and care, your tan can be beautifully wedding-day ready. We recommend scheduling your final tan 2–3 days before the wedding so your color has time to settle.
What we wish more brides knew? You don’t have to be afraid of spray tanning. Start your bridal tan journey early, find a formula you love, and trust your artist to create a glow that makes you feel confident walking down the aisle.”

More Than Just a Glow
At the end of the day, the goal isn’t to make a bride look like someone different. It’s to help her walk into one of the biggest days of her life feeling a little more confident, cared for and completely herself.
What do you love most about working with brides?
“What we love most about working with brides is getting to be a small part of such a special season in their lives. 🤍 We want every bride to leave The Sunless Château feeling confident, beautiful, and excited for her big day—not just because she has a gorgeous glow, but because she felt cared for along the way.
Our hope is that you leave feeling like the absolute best, most confident version of yourself walking down the aisle. ✨”
