Birthday Plan Turns Into Surprise Proposal

Brian and I have been together for nearly 5 years and are so thrilled to get married in a few days! Our proposal story is one for the books. There was definitely reverse psychology played in the weeks leading up to the proposal weekend. This ended up making for the most special, thrilling surprise EVER! Brian’s birthday was the first Saturday of December, and I wanted to make it special for him. I let him know that I booked us a brunch in the morning, and then we could go to our favorite spot in Houston with our friends to celebrate afterward. He let me know to come over to his house and we would ride together into town for the birthday brunch. I, of course, was running late on Saturday morning, so I decided I would make Brian drive us and do my makeup and hair in the car. When I arrived at his house, I was laser-focused on getting to brunch on time, so I told him that he was driving, and we hit the road. As soon as we got out of the neighborhood, I already had one eye of mascara on. I was making huge progress, or so I thought. Brian pulls into the neighborhood trail and parks his car. I said, “We are going to be late, what are you doing??” He told me that I had to get out of the car and follow him. That is when I knew something was going on. I get out of the car with one eye of mascara, and we start walking on the trail. Meanwhile, I am freaking out and thinking how can this be?? Before I knew it, he was down on one knee. I was in complete and utter shock. We were so happy! I then realized that there was no birthday breakfast, just our family waiting for us back at the house ready to celebrate with us… with some extra mascara and nail polish. The surprises did not end there. After celebrating with our family, we went to the place where we were going to meet our friends that afternoon for the birthday gathering. Once we arrived, all of our friends were there waiting for us with decorations, gifts, cake, etc. We had the best birthday/proposal weekend EVER! It was truly so special 🙂
